Seize this opportunity to assess your goals

If you’re coming up on your next mid-year review this slow season, don’t let those words send you into a panic. Consider it an opportunity to assess where you are currently – and where you’d like to go in the coming year. After all, it’s important to reflect on more than just the bottom line. Take some time to reset your goals and find ways to expand your knowledge and business capabilities in the coming months.

Acquire new skills

When you think about your current skill set, where are the areas you’d like to expand? Start by selecting a topic you’d like to learn more about, and then check out the various webinars available online. Webinars can make you an “expert” on a topic in as little as 30 minutes, and many are free. They are offered by a variety of different educators, subject matter experts and companies around the world. Specialized topics like marketing and customer service can be tough to master when you’re on the job, but webinars range in subject matter and levels from the most basic to very advanced content, offering a variety of offerings to suit your needs and interests.

To give you a starting point, check out Harvard Business Review and LinkedIn, which offer webinars on leadership, hiring, sales, marketing and even business strategy. A mastery of any these areas could give you an edge above the competition.

Tune up your tech

It’s likely that your company makes regular updates to its technology throughout the year. It’s equally as likely that you don’t always have the time to stay up to speed on the latest changes and new features. Slow season is a great time to review and make sure you’re fully leveraging the capabilities of the technology you’re already investing in. Once that is done, determine whether additional training or better software are necessary for your day-to-day needs. Dotloop, for example, offers an end-to-end real estate transaction management software that makes your job easier and more efficient, including lead management, file sharing, easy-to-use forms, document storage, collaboration, task lists, electronic signatures – everything to help a busy agent manage and close deals faster.

It’s tough to stay on top of every technology offering in real time, but when you have a moment to check them out, you may find some cool and simple ways to be more efficient.

Get dot Certified

While technology updates and webinars can improve your skill set and efficiency, a dotloop certification will make you better equipped to handle more business and also expand your revenue stream.

Becoming a Dot Certified Trainer is fairly simple. First, you must complete lessons online that are available through the online program to receive certification. As a certified trainer, you are then promoted on dotloop’s website, which will connect you to offices across the country where you can conduct cost-effective onsite trainings for other dotloop users. It helps ensure you’re up to speed on the latest and greatest dotloop functionality, while also generating another revenue stream. Check out our upcoming onsite and online trainings.

Slow season gives us all a chance to review the triumphs and challenges of the past six months to see what we’re doing well and where we can improve. During your “mid-year review,” take some time to determine what goals you can accomplish during slow season that can set you up for greater success when busy season is again back in full swing.
