Great real estate agents use digital and mobile technology to get deals done faster.

Two months ago, we invited our clients to submit a questionnaire nominating real estate agents who are applying technology to complete transactions in unique and innovative ways.

Our team judged dozens of applications on a number of factors, including the technologies they currently use to conduct business on a regular basis, new technologies they are currently exploring, and how they leverage dotloop’s capabilities to make their lives and the lives of their clients easier.

After a thorough review, here’s who made the cut for “Dotloop’s Top 10: Most Tech-Forward Real Estate Agents 2017.”

Jon Starwalt
Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Star Homes –
Illinois

With a thorough background in digital marketing, agent Jon Starwalt understands the value of staying up-to-date with industry tech. In fact, “[he] spends the majority of his time evaluating, working with, and trying to break any and every new technology he comes across.”

“I feel like the expectation of technology use in the real estate world has been very low for a long time, but that is rapidly changing,” he said. “Since the emergence and exposure of multiple real estate tech start-ups, it’s quickly becoming a standard expectation.”

Meggie Carpenter
Grace Ryan Real Estate, LLC – Maryland

Former VP of Operations and now full time Salesperson Meggie Carpenter is known for delivering streamlined transactions through cutting-edge technology. “When it comes to software,” she says, “I’m all in if I love it. But I’ll never stop looking for that next best tool – which is what I think makes me tech savvy.”

Meggie also made an important point: “…remember that tech tools do not replace human interaction, but should be used to enhance it.”

Ashley Bartholomaus
Keller Williams Realty Sioux Falls – South Dakota

Ashley offers nearly a decade of sales experience as an agent, so providing top-notch client relations is one of her first priorities. Teaching through technology tools, she said, is a great place to start. “My intent with tech isn’t just to explore and utilize, but also to teach others, especially those who don’t think they are ‘techy.’” “Technology is not going anywhere. It is constantly changing. Having technology to utilize in the real estate world is quickly becoming the expectation and an edge over older ways of doing business.”

Leighton Pinkham
Regal Realtors – Texas

Zillow 5-star agent Leighton Pinkham appreciates the value of a professional, hands-on client experience. But, Leighton also understands the importance of technology. “One of our core values is ‘cutting edge,’” he explained, “and its purpose is to remind us to strive daily to be at the cusp of innovation.”

Lindsey Egner
Century 21 Advantage, Real Estate Inc. – Missouri

Named one of Realtor Magazines’s “30 under 30” in 2009, agent Lindsey Egner can anticipate market trends with ease, thanks to the technology she calls “the magic fairy dust” of the industry. “Technology enables us to communicate, collaborate, and create across all fronts in the real estate world,” Lindsey said. “Real estate doesn’t evolve as fast as many other industries, so as agents, we need to make ourselves evolve that much faster to meet that shortcoming and keep up with consumer demands.”

Heather Tindall
ERA Central Realty Group – New Jersey

With an eye for functionality and design, agent Heather Tindall leverages social media and mobile apps to guarantee balance in her work. “Technology with mobile integrations like dotloop give me the opportunity to live a more fulfilling lifestyle without sacrificing my career.” “Dotloop is the only way our company does deals. [It] keeps every person tied to a transaction ‘in the loop’ from start to finish, ensuring every party needed to get the deal done is connected and in sync.”

Ryan Rutman
RE/MAX Professional Realty Group – Kentucky

Award-winning agent Ryan Rutman (America’s Best Real Estate Agents, Real Trends; Zillow Premier Agent; Messenger Inquirer, Reader’s Choice Award 2014) describes the application of technology to his real estate career as being “life-changing.” “I have built my business year in and year out,” Ryan said, “without sacrificing my personal life with my family. Technology and digital tools play an enormous role in being able to have some work-life balance.”

Randy Lawyer
EXIT Real Estate Solutions – Tennessee

With IT sales experience and an energetic personality, Randy uses digital tools to fuse his passions and stand out as an agent: “Technology is important to my work because it differentiates me from the competition. Dotloop really allows me to streamline my business with real-time visibility into my transactions.” “When I have access to technology that saves me time and improves communications,” he added, “it usually saves my clients money and frustration during the process.”

Emmy Martin Sorrells
Three Sixty Real Estate – Alabama

Agent Emmy Martin Sorrells understands that hard work and imagination can create efficient solutions, and her clients certainly know it. “I will do everything I can to make sure they have the smoothest and easiest path to either selling or buying their home,” she stated. “Cutting the computer cord has been the best part of using dotloop, freeing up more of my time to be productive,” said Emmy. “Dotloop makes collaboration with co-op agents and clients a breeze, even if they don’t use dotloop regularly.”

Sean Britt
Realtor of Excellence – South Africa

Hailing from the 1st virtual real estate agency in South Africa, Sean Britt knows what it’s like to experience resistance towards innovative technology. But “one year later,” he said, “my greatest critics [couldn’t] stop singing dotloop’s praises.” “Our biggest challenge was to find a program that could be customized for our company,” he explained. “In South Africa, by law we have to keep full records of all our transactions. It goes without saying that is nearly impossible for a company that claims to be virtual and has no offices to speak of. Dotloop has solved this problem.”
